9 short stories - cheers to life

  9 short stories worth reading
1. *FALL and RISE*

Today, when I slipped on the wet tile floor a boy in a wheelchair caught me before I slammed my head on the ground.  He said, “Believe it or not, that’s almost exactly how I injured my back 3 years ago .

2. *A FATHER'S ADVICE*

Today, my father told me, “Just go for it and give it a try!  You don’t have to be a professional to build a successful product.  Amateurs started Google and Apple.  Professionals built the Titanic

3. *The POWER of UNIQUENESS* .

Today, I asked my mentor – a very successful business man in his 70’s – what his top 3 tips are for success.  He smiled and said, “Read something no one else is reading, think something no one else is thinking, and do something no one else is doing.

4. *LOOKING BACK*

Today, I interviewed my grandmother for part of a research paper I’m working on for my Psychology class.  When I asked her to define success in her own words, she said, “Success is when you look back at your life and the memories make you smile.

5. *TRY and YOU shall KNOW*

I am blind by birth. When I was 8 years old, I wanted to play baseball. I asked my father- "Dad, can I play baseball?" He said "You'll never know until you try." When I was a teenager, I asked him, - "Dad Can I become a surgeon?". He replied "Son, you'll never know until you try." Today I am a Surgeon, just because I tried!

6. *GOODNESS & GRATITUDE*

Today, after a 72 hour shift at the fire station, a woman ran up to me at the grocery store and gave me a hug.  When I tensed up, she realized I didn’t recognize her.  She let go with tears of joy in her eyes and the most sincere smile and said, “On 9-11-2001, you carried me out of world trade centre.

7. *LOOKING BACK*

Today, as my father, three brothers, and two sisters stood around my mother’s hospital bed, my mother uttered her last coherent words before she died. She simply said, “I feel so loved right now. We should have gotten together like this more often.”

8. *AFFECTION*

Today, I kissed my dad on the forehead as he passed away in a small hospital bed.  About 5 seconds after he passed, I realized it was the first time I had given him a kiss since I was a little boy.

9. *SHARING*

Today, I was traveling in Kenya and I met a refugee from Zimbabwe.  He said he hadn’t eaten anything in over 3 days and looked extremely skinny and unhealthy.  Then my friend offered him the rest of the sandwich he was eating.  The first thing the man said was, “We can share it.”

Who is richer than Bill Gates?

Someone asked Bill Gates, Is there any person richer than you?

He said, yes, only one. Many years ago, I had gone to New York airport. I read titles of newspapers there. I liked one of them and I wanted to buy it. But I didn't  have change (coin). I abandoned, suddenly, a black boy called me and told, “This newspaper is for you.” I said, but I don’t have change. He said, “No problem, I give you free”.

After 3 months, I went there. Coincidentally, that story happened again and that same boy gave another free newspaper again. I said, I can’t accept. But he said, “I give you from my profit.”

After 19 years, I had been rich and I decided to find that boy. I found him after one and half months searching. I asked him, do you know me? He said, “Yes, you’re famous Bill Gates.”

I said, you gave me free newspapers 2 times many years ago. Now, I want to compensate for it. I am going to give you everything that you want. Black young man replied, “You can’t compensate it!”
I said, why? He said, "Because I gave you when I was poor. You want to give me when you are rich. So, how do you compensate?"

Bill Gates said, I think that black young man is richer than me.

You don't have to be rich or wait to be rich to give.
If you are agree with this ... share the message.

Best motivational story : Roger Bannister - four minute mile

Best motivational story : Roger Bannister - four minute mile

The story of Roger Bannister ask a very simple question ... Are our greatest limitations physical or mental? Our thoughts form the limits of our world . When we change them , we open up with new set of possibilities for exploring new world.
Till 1954, running four minute mile was something beyond human capability and thus beyond human achievement. It was believed to be a real physical limit to run a mile in four minutes or less. In May 1954, Roger Bannister break this barrier by running the mile in 3 minutes 59.4 seconds. It's a great achievement but what happened after that .....
Two months later , Roger Bannister's MIRACLE MILE was again broken by Australian rival John Landy. In next 3 years 16 other runners also broken this record.(This is something serious)

What happened in those 3 years? Was there a sudden growth in human evolution? was there any miracle or some new energy drink which created a new race of super runners?
Nothing changed except the thinking , except the mind set. Earlier runners held back by a thought that said that they could not break the barrier of four minute mile. When Roger Bannister break that limit , others believed that they also can achieve it.

In our business and personal life there are four minute mile opportunities that we just have not recognised are possible.
We have to challenge them and ask ourselves - What possibilities would be opened if these barrier were no longer here.
You can also watch the video of original race in video link above. if you like the story ... share it and spread positiveness.

Overtake

Overtake

A boy with his parents was travelling in their car. Father was driving and son was sitting in the back. Dad was driving this car very carefully because it was quite dear to him.

After a few minutes later, a modern car overtook their car.
Son told Father, "Dad this car went ahead of us, please use accelerator to overtake that car".
Dad replied smilling, "Son, it is not possible, our car is not capable of going that fast".

Within a few seconds, another car went ahead of them. Son got annoyed by it and told dad to press accelerator.

Dad replied to son in anger, "You are only seeing cars which are going ahead of us. There are many cars behind us. If we try to catch up with those cars in front of us, we may end up doing damage to our car".

Son replied nicely, "Dad, you compare me with other smart kids and keep telling me to be like them. If I try to be like them, I might end up hurting myself right! You are only seeing smarter kids than me, but you are not seeing kids who are behind me."

A famous writer was in his study room. He picked up his pen and started writing :

Last year, I had a surgery and my gall bladder was removed. I had to stay stuck to the bed due to this surgery for a long time.

The same year I reached the age of 60 years and had to give up my favourite job. I had spent 30 years of my life in this publishing company.

The same year I experienced the sorrow of the death of my father.

And in the same year my son failed in his medical exam because he had a car accident. He had to stay in bed at hospital with the cast on for several days. The destruction of car was another loss.

At the end he wrote: Alas! It was such bad year !!

When the writer's wife entered the room, she found her husband looking sad & lost in his thoughts. From behind his back she read what was written on the paper. She left the room silently and came back with another paper and placed it on side of her husband's writing.

When the writer saw this paper, he found his name written on it with following lines :

Last year I finally got rid of my gall bladder due to which I had spent years in pain....

I turned 60 with sound health and got retired from my job. Now I can utilize my time to write something better with more focus and peace.....

The same year my father, at the age of 95, without depending on anyone or without any critical condition met his Creator.....

The same year, God blessed my son with a new life. My car was destroyed but my son stayed alive without getting any disability......

At the end she wrote:

This year was an immense blessing of God and it passed well !!!

The writer was indeed happy and amazed at such beautiful and encouraging interpretation of the happenings in his life in that year !!!

In daily lives we must see that its not happiness that makes us grateful but gratefulness that makes us happy.

To all my lovely friends ....

Think positive.....
Be happy...
Stay Blessed.

Mother and Son : Heart Touching story

My mother used to ask me what is the most important part of the body is. Through the years I would take a guess at what I thought was the correct Answer..
When I was younger, I thought sound was very important to us as humans, so I said, 'My ears, Mommy..'
She said, 'No. Many people are deaf. But you keep thinking about it and I will ask you again soon..'
Several years passed before she asked me again. Since making my first attempt, I had contemplated the correct answer..
So this time I told her, 'Mommy, sight is very important to everybody, so it must be our eyes..'
She looked at me and told me, 'You are learning fast, but the answer is not correct because there are many people who are blind..'
Stumped again, I continued my quest for knowledge and over the years, Mother asked me a couple more times and always her answer was, 'No. But you are getting smarter every year, my child..'
Then one year, my grandfather died. Everybody was hurt. Everybody was crying. Even my father cried..

I remember that especially because it was only the second time I saw him cry..
My Mom looked at me when it was our turn to say our final good-bye to my Grandfather..
She asked me, 'Do you know the most important body part yet, my dear??'
I was shocked when she asked me this now. I always thought this was a game between her and me..
She saw the confusion on my face and told me, 'This question is very important. It shows that you have really lived in your life. For every body part you gave me in the past, I have told you were wrong and I have given you an example why..
But today is the day you need to learn this important lesson..'
She looked down at me as only a mother can. I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said, 'My dear, the most important body part is your shoulder..'
I asked, 'Is it because it holds up my head??'
She replied, 'No, it is because it can hold the head of a friend or a loved one when they cry. Everybody needs a shoulder to cry on sometime in life, my dear. I only hope that you have enough love and friends that you will always have a shoulder to cry on when you need it..'
Then and there I knew the most important body part is not a selfish one. It is made for others and not for yourself. It is sympathetic to the pain of others..
People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did . But people will NEVER forget how you made them feel..
Share it if you like it.....

One Eye

One Eye

My mom only had one eye. I hated her… She was such an embarrassment. She cooked for students and teachers to support the family.

There was this one day during elementary school where my mom came to say hello to me. I was so embarrassed.

How  could she do this to me? I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and  ran out. The next day at school one of my classmates said, “EEEE, your  mom only has one eye!”

one eye an emotional story
one eye

I wanted to bury myself. I also wanted my  mom to just disappear. I confronted her that day and said, “If you’re  only gonna make me a laughing stock, why don’t you just die?”

My  mom did not respond… I didn’t even stop to think for a second about what  I had said, because I was full of anger. I was oblivious to her  feelings.

I wanted out of that house, and have nothing to do with her. So I studied real hard, got a chance to go abroad to study.

Then,  I got married. I bought a house of my own. I had kids of my own. I was  happy with my life, my kids and the comforts. Then one day, my Mother  came to visit me. She hadn’t seen me in years and she didn’t even meet  her grandchildren.

When she stood by the door, my children laughed  at her, and I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at  her, “How dare you come to my house and scare my children! GET OUT OF  HERE! NOW!!!”

And to this, my mother quietly answered, “Oh, I’m so  sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address.” – and she disappeared out  of sight.
One day, a letter regarding a school reunion came to my  house. So I lied to my wife that I was going on a business trip. After  the reunion, I went to the old shack just out of curiosity.

My neighbors said that she died. I did not shed a single tear. They handed me a letter that she had wanted me to have.

“My dearest son,
I think of you all the time. I’m sorry that I came to your house and scared your children.
I  was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I may not  be able to even get out of bed to see you. I’m sorry that I was a  constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up.
You  see……..when you were very little, you got into an accident, and lost  your eye. As a mother, I couldn’t stand watching you having to grow up  with one eye. So I gave you mine.
I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place, with that eye.

With all my love to you,
Your mother.”

Never Judge Anyone

Never Judge Anyone

A doctor entered the hospital in hurry after being called in for an urgent surgery. He answered the call , changed his clothes & went directly to the surgery block.

He found the boy’s father pacing in the hall waiting for the doctor.
On seeing him, the dad yelled: “Why did you take all this time to come? Don’t you know that my son’s life is in danger? Don’t you have any sense of responsibility?”

The doctor smiled & said: “I am sorry, I wasn’t in the hospital & I came as fast as I could after receiving the call…… And now, I wish you’d calm down so that I can do my work”

“Calm down?! What if your son was in this room right now, would you calm down? If your own son dies now what will you do??” said the father angrily
The doctor smiled again & replied: “I  will say what Job said in the Holy Book
“From dust we came & to  dust we return, blessed be the name of God”. Doctors cannot prolong lives. Go & intercede for your son, we will do our best by God’s grace”
“Giving advises when we’re not concerned is so easy” Murmured the father.

The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out happy, “Thank goodness!, your son is saved!” And without waiting for the father’s reply he carried on his way running. “If you have any questions, asks the nurse!!”

“Why is he so arrogant? He couldn’t wait some minutes so that I ask about my son’s state” Commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.

The nurse answered, tears coming down her face: “His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was at the burial when we called him for your son’s surgery. And now that he saved your son’s life, he left running to finish his son’s burial.”

Good words bad words

Good words bad words

Once upon a time, in a small city a very healthy calf was born . Since he was well bred for strength, he was bought by a high class rich man. He became very fond of the gentle animal, and called him 'Hunter'. He took good care of him and fed him only the best. When Hunter grew up into a big fine strong bull, he thought, "I was brought up by this big-hearted man. He gave me such good food and steady care, even though sometimes there were difficulties. Now I am a big grown-up bull and there is no other bull that can pull as heavy a load as I can. Therefore, I would like to use my power to give something in return to my master."

Good words bad words

So he said to the man, "Master, please find some wealthy merchant who is proud of having many strong bulls. Challenge him by saying that your bull can pull one- hundred heavily loaded bullock carts." Following his advice, the high class rich man went to such a merchant and struck up a conversation. After a while, he brought up the idea of who had the strongest bull in the city.

The merchant said, "Many have bulls, but no one has any as strong as mine." The rich man said, "Sir, I have a bull that can pull one hundred heavily loaded bullock carts." "No, friend, how can there be such a bull? That is unbelievable!" said the merchant. The other replied, "I do have such a bull, and I am willing to make a bet." The merchant said, "I will bet a thousand gold coins that your bull cannot pull a hundred loaded bullock carts." So the bet was made and they agreed on a date and time for the challenge.

The merchant attached together one-hundred big bullock carts. He filled them with sand and gravel to make them very heavy. The high class rich man fed the finest rice to the bull called Hunter. He bathed him and decorated him and hung a beautiful garland of flowers around his neck.

Then he harnessed him to the first cart and climbed up onto it. Being so high class, he could not resist the urge to make himself seem very important. So he cracked a whip in the air, and yelled at the faithful bull, "Pull, you dumb animal! I command you to pull, you big dummy!"
The bull called Hunter thought, "This challenge was my idea. I have never done anything bad to my master, and yet he insults me with such hard and harsh words!" So he remained in his place and refused to pull the carts. The merchant laughed and demanded his winnings from the bet. The high class rich man had to pay him the one thousand gold coins. He returned home and sat down, saddened by his lost bet, and embarrassed by the blow to his pride.
The bull called Hunter grazed peacefully on his way home. When he arrived, he saw his master sadly lying on his side. He asked, "Master, why are you lying there like that? Are you sleeping? You look sad." The man said, I lost a thousand gold coins because of you. With such a loss, how could I sleep?"

The bull replied. "Master, you called me 'dummy'. You even cracked a whip in the air over my head. In all my life, did I ever break anything, step on anything, make a mess in the wrong place, or behave like a 'dummy' in any way?" He answered, "No, my pet."

The bull called Hunter said, "Then Master, why did you call me 'dumb animal', and insult me even in the presence of others? The fault is yours. I have done nothing wrong. But since I feel sorry for you, go again to the merchant and make the same bet for two thousand gold coins. And remember to use only the respectful words I deserve so well."

Then the high class rich man went back to the merchant and made the bet for two-thousand gold coins. The merchant thought it would be easy money. Again he set up the one hundred heavily loaded bullock carts. Again the rich man fed and bathed the bull, and hung a garland of flowers around his neck. When all was ready, the rich man touched Hunter's forehead with a lotus blossom, having given up the whip. Thinking of him as fondly as if he were his own child, he said, "My son, please do me the honour of pulling these one hundred bullock carts." Lo and behold, the wonderful bull pulled with all his might and dragged the heavy carts. The merchant, with his mouth hanging open in disbelief, had to pay the two thousand gold coins. The onlookers were so amazed that they honoured the bull called Hunter with gifts. But even more important to the high class rich man than his winnings, was his valuable lesson in humility and respect.

Moral of the story :

Choose your words wisely, they can play decisive role in your life. Harsh words bring no reward. Respectful words bring honour to all.

Inspirational story : Saint and Scorpion

Inspirational story : Saint and Scorpion

One day a Saint meditating near the river. After he had finished his meditation, the Saint opened his eyes and saw a scorpion floating helplessly in the water for his survival. As the scorpion was washed closer to the tree, the Saint quickly stretched himself out on one of the long roots that branched out into the river and reached out to save the drowning scorpion. As soon as he touched it, the scorpion stung him. Impulsively Saint withdrew his hand. A minute later, after he had regained his balance, he stretched himself out again on the roots to save the scorpion. This time the scorpion stung him so badly with its venomous tail that his hand became swollen and bloody and his face contorted with pain.

At that moment, an onlooker saw the Saint stretched out on the roots struggling with the scorpion and shouted: “stupid man, what's wrong with you? Only a fool would risk his life for the sake of an ugly, evil creature. Don't you know you could kill yourself trying to save that ungrateful scorpion?"

The Saint turned his head. Looking into the stranger's eyes he said calmly, "My friend, just because it is the scorpion's nature to sting, that does not change my nature to save."

Inspirational Story : Man With Lamp

A man woke up early in order to pray in the Mosque. He got dressed, made his ablution and was on his way to the Mosque.

On his way to the Mosque, the man fell and his clothes got dirty. He got up, brushed himself off, and headed home. At home, he changed his clothes, made his ablution, and was, again, on his way to the Mosque.

On his way to the Mosque, he fell again and at the same spot! He, again, got up, brushed himself off and headed home. At home he, once again, changed his clothes, made his ablution and was on his way to the Mosque.

Inspirational Story : Man With Lamp
On his way to the Mosque, he met a man holding a lamp. He asked the man of his identity and the man replied "I saw you fall twice on your way to the Mosque, so I brought a lamp so I can light your way." The first man thanked him profusely and the two where on their way to the Mosque.

Once at the Mosque, the first man asked the man with lamp to come in and pray with him. The second man refused. The first man asked him a couple more times and, again, the answer was the same. The first man asked him why he did not wish to come in and pray.

The man replied "I am Satan."

The man was shocked at this reply. Satan went on to explain, "I saw you on your way to the Mosque and it was I who made you fall. When you went home, cleaned yourself and went back on your way to the Mosque, God forgave all of your sins. I made you fall a second time, and even that did not encourage you to stay home, but rather, you went back on your way to the Mosque. Because of that, God forgave all the sins of the people of your household. I was afraid if i made you fall one more time, then God will forgive the sins of the people of your village, so i made sure that you reached the Mosque safely."

Why Do People Shout In Anger

Inspirational Story : The Locked Door

Inspirational story : Three feet from gold

Inspirational story : Three feet from gold

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake at one time or another. An uncle of R. U. Darby was caught by the "gold fever" in the gold-rush days, and went west to DIG AND GROW RICH. He had never heard that more gold has been mined from the brains of men than has ever been taken from the earth. He staked a claim and went to work with pick and shovel. The going was hard, but his lust for gold was definite.

Inspirational story : Three feet from gold
Inspirational story : Three feet from gold

After weeks of labor, he was rewarded by the discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to bring the ore to the surface. Quietly, he covered up the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in Williamsburg, Maryland, told his relatives and a few neighbors of the "strike." They got together money for the needed machinery, had it shipped. The uncle and Darby went back to work the mine.

The first car of ore was mined, and shipped to a smelter. The returns proved they had one of the richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that ore would clear the debts. Then would come the big killing in profits.

Down went the drills! Up went the hopes of Darby and Uncle! Then something happened! The vein of gold ore disappeared! They had come to the end of the rainbow, and the pot of gold was no longer there! They drilled on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again-all to no avail.

Finally, they decided to QUIT. They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few hundred dollars, and took the train back home. Some "junk" men are dumb, but not this one! He called in a mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little calculating. The engineer advised that the project had failed, because the owners were not familiar with "fault lines." His calculations showed that the vein would be found JUST THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE DARBYS HAD STOPPED DRILLING! That is exactly where it was found!

The "Junk" man took millions of dollars in ore from the mine, because he knew enough to seek expert counsel before giving up. Most of the money which went into the machinery was procured through the efforts of R. U. Darby, who was then a very young man. The money came from his relatives and neighbors, because of their faith in him. He paid back every dollar of it, although he was years in doing so.

Long afterward, Mr. Darby recouped his loss many times over, when he made the discovery that DESIRE can be transmuted into gold. The discovery came after he went into the business of selling life insurance (latter part of the 19th century).

Remembering that he lost a huge fortune, because he STOPPED three feet from gold, Darby profited by the experience in his chosen work, by the simple method of saying to himself, "I stopped three feet from gold, but I will never stop because men say `no' when I ask them to buy insurance."

Darby is one of a small group of fewer than fifty men who sell more than a million dollars in life insurance annually. He owes his "stickability" to the lesson he learned from his "quitability" in the gold mining business.

1001 ways to become rich overnight

1001 ways to become rich overnight

Once upon a time, there was a poor man. Due to his poor economical condition, he thought to end his life by committing suicide. When he was on the way to finish his life he noticed a bookseller selling a book called “1001 ways to become rich overnight”. He thinks “i am going to end my life but there is no harm to read this book before that. If it works then i will change my idea”. So he buys the book.
The book wasn't very interesting, but between its pages there was something very interesting indeed. It was a thin strip of vellum on which was written the secret of the Touchstone.
The touchstone was a small rock that could turn any common metal into pure gold. The writing explained that it was lying among thousands and thousands of other stones that looked exactly like it. But the secret was this: The real stone would feel warm, while ordinary stones are cold. So the man camped on the seashore, and began testing stones.

Inspirational story :1001 ways to become rich overnight
Inspirational story :1001 ways to become rich overnight

He knew that if he picked up ordinary stones and threw them down again because they were cold, he might pick up the same stones hundreds of times. So, when he felt one that was cold, he threw it into the sea. He spent a whole day doing this but none of them was the touchstone. Yet he went on and on this way. Pick up a pebble. Cold - throw it into the sea. Pick up another. Throw it into the sea.
The days stretched into weeks and the weeks into months. One day, however, about mid-afternoon, he picked up a pebble and it was warm. He threw it into the sea before he realized what he had done. He had formed such a strong habit of throwing each pebble into the sea that when the one he wanted came along he still threw it away.
Inspirational moral of the story
Unless we are watchful, it's easy to fail to distinguish an opportunity when it is in hand and it's just as easy to throw it away. The problem is we never know when the door of opportunity is going to open wide. For some, the big break comes early in life and for others later on. But for all of those who become successful, there is one key similarity: They were ready. Getting opportunity is one thing but to feel it and use it to the fullest is a different ball game. When one looks around in our society, one can come across many live examples of ordinary people who were prudent to spot the opportunities at various times and make use of it.

A young man was all set to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. His dad simply smiled without confirming whether he will buy the car or not.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him. His father told him how proud he was to have such a good son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
“This box is certainly not my cup of tea”. One thing was sure in young man’s mind.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Holy Book in it. Furiously, he shouted at his father and said "Look dad, you can’t understand me and not even respect my feeling. Is this the best that you can give your son with all your wealth? “He stormed out of the house, leaving the Holy Book.

After many years, the young man became a successful businessman and has accumulated wealth of his own. He finally bought himself the car that he has always wanted. He still holds a grudge to his father for not giving him the only gift that he wanted back in his college days.

One fine day he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately.. When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's important papers and saw the same Holy Book wrapped in similar gift wrap, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Holy Book and began to turn the pages.

As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope enclosed to the Holy Book. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had that sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words ‘PAID IN FULL’.
The son was so ashamed of himself that he bitterly cried in repentance. His father has granted his graduation wish all along but he was so stupid not to look inside the wrap up.

Inspirational moral of the story

God usually gives us great things in unanticipated packages too. May we not be like the stupid son who did not even unwrap the gift of his father. Instead, let us always look inside the book to find everything that we always wanted inside and turn each page of book of life with positive thoughts and without pre conceived notions!

Kill the monster : inspirational story

Once upon a time , in a land far away, there lived an massive monster. He was at least 12 feet tall. With a mop of red hair and a beard, he carried a mighty axe in his hand. Every year, on the same day, at the same time the monster would walk down the mountains to stand outside the fort wall, terrorizing the residents.
"Come send me the bravest man , and i will fight him," the monster would shout, towering over the wall and waving his axe menacingly. " Send me someone to fight or i will knock down your fort wall and kill everyone with my axe."
And every year, the gate in the fort wall would open slowly and fearfully, and one poor, valiant soul would walk out to face the foe and certain death. ' is this the best you can do?' the monster would laugh mockingly. Not one person even managed to draw his sword, before the monster would crush them with his mighty fist, and chop them into the pieces with the axe.
'One day a young prince arrived in the town. Why does everyone here look so frightened and sad?' He asked a fellow traveller.
' you haven't seen the monster yet'. replied the traveller and told him the tale. The young prince decided to accept the challenge of the monster. later when monster arrived he was waiting for him. After hearing the challenge of the monster prince came out of the fort. For a moment, they stood and faced each other. Although he was a long way away from him, the young prince was instantly struck by the sheer size and shocking appearance of his opponent.

But summoning up all his courage, he started to walk towards the monster, brandishing his sword, and never taking his eyes off that dreadful face with red hair and beard.
Suddenly, he realized that as he was walking towards monster, rather than appearing larger-monster began to shrink before his very eyes. He stopped and stared. The monster was only 6 feet tall. He walked closer to him then stopped and stared. Now the monster was only 3 feet tall. He continued walking, by now monster was only one feet tall. The young prince took his sword, and plunged it into the monster's heart . As monster lay dying on the ground , the young prince bent down and whispered to him ,' Who are you?'
With his dying breath, monster replied ,' My name is FEAR.'
